OTHER CONSUMABLES FOR CERAMIC SHELL INVESTMENT CASTING
R&R WASH-N-ETCH pattern cleaner removes silicone oil or other release agents from wax patterns
before the primary ceramic coat is applied. R&R Wash-N-Etch is a biodegradable, completely safe product for cleaning wax patterns. R&R Wash-N-Etch contains naturally occurring d-limonene,
derived from citrus fruits, as the active ingredient.
R&R Wash-N-Etch also acts as an etching material for the wax pattern while it cleans off the release
agent. This product allows for better slurry adhesion during application of primary coats. Better adhesion of the primary coats reduces opportunities for casting defects related to shell buckling or lifting.
NOTE: R&R RANCLENE pattern cleaner is produced in Europe and is available only to our European customers. For more information on this product, contact R&R’s European Sales Manager.
Pour Cups are composed of clay-bonded mullite with a very low tramp element content to satisfy stringent aerospace specifications.
Quality ceramic pour cups are an important part of the ceramic shell tree assembly. A well- manufactured cup can reduce the risk of casting defects resulting from cup erosion during a metal
pour. The better the surface of the pour cup used, the less opportunity for cup erosion and spalling. Schaefer pour cups are sufficiently dense to resist the thermal shock that occurs when molten
metal meets ceramic, reducing the potential failure during a pour.
Glasweve HT filter cups and shapes provide effective removal of inclusions and slag from steel,
copper-based metal alloys, aluminium, gray, malleable, white, compacted graphite and ductile cast iron. Filters made from Glasweve HT are particularly effective at extracting dross, slag,
refractory particles and nonmetallic inclusions.
Flow-RiteTM foundry filters
are pressed mullite ceramic filters providing an alternative to foam filters. Flow-Rite filters reduce pour time impact due to improved flow rate consistency versus foam filters and reduce
inclusions due to filter breakage. Flow-Rite filters are easier to remove during metal recovery as well, they float
to the surface and can be slagged off. Flow-Rite foundry filters have high metal temperature capabilities up to 3030oF (1665oC).
